Synthesizer Roland D-50
The Synthesizer Roland D-50 is a synthesizer digitally controlled with 61 keys and a maximum of 16 voices of polyphony.
Roland D-50 was launched by Roland Corporation in 1987. The D-50 is based on Roland's LA synthesis.
The LA synthesis uses the effect that the human ear perceives especially the first split second of a sound.
It became one of the most sought-after synthesizers of the 1980s and is one of the best-selling alongside the DX7 and Korg M1.
At the time of its presentation, the Roland D-50 is one of the first synthesizers with a built-in effects unit (chorus, reverb, echo) and an equalizer.
For example, the "pizzagogo" sound of the D-50 can be heard on Orinoco Flow by Enya.
The data input is either menu-driven and supported by a joystick or the optionally available Roland PG-1000 programming device, which simplifies the process with many sliders. Many D-50 sounds like Staccato Heaven, Future Pad, Digital Native Dance, Fantasia or Soundtrack, just to name a few sounds, have become legend - sometimes copied to this day but never quite reached.
